Your mission
The Centre is looking for a Communications Manager (m/f/d), who will drive the development of the Centre’s communications and social media outreach and support our growing team and programs. Working with dedicated and ambitious colleagues, s/he will develop both new strategies and formats to communicate the Centre’s approaches and initiatives aimed at improving the sector. Our new Communications Manager shall support the development of our website and social media channels to create curiosity and buy-in, mainly through the use of digital means and tools. This is a key position, working directly under the Executive Director and in cooperation with the entire team to increase the outreach of our work.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Continuously develop and implement the Centre’s communication strategy, including outreach around events and customer journeys
  • Coordinate and develop all communication efforts of the Centre including the website, microsites, social media channels, publications and newsletters
  • Coordinate and develop an upcoming resources platform, including the research and coordination of blog authors and social media channels 
  • Support special communication projects, as appropriate
  • Support quality control and image management to ensure consistent messaging in line with the Centre’s vision and strategy 
  • Support the program and fundraising team to develop content and formats for communication around Centre projects, in a project manager role
  • Liaise with external partners, e.g. designers, media agencies, proof readers etc. 
  • Proofread and edit texts
  • Other communications-related tasks as assigned by the Executive Director
Your profile
Main requirements and qualifications
  • A minimum of two years practical experience in working with communication, e.g. managing websites and social media channels, developing newsletters, supporting teams in improving their communication efforts
  • Strong creative and innovative thinking, ideally with a focus on digital communications
  • Excellent management and coordination skills, ability to work under pressure and maintaining an attention to detail
  • Independent and pro-active attitude, strong sense of ownership for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Ability to work creatively within the restrictions of a small budget
  • Strong team work skills and the ability to work with various colleagues on various projects and marketing initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills, excellent English essential; good writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in the civil society sector is considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge of website CMS (Wordpress, ExpressionEngine) and design programmes (InDesign) an asset
  • Video/podcast-producing/editing skills an asset

Terms: Permanent contract with a six months’ probation period
Working hours:  40 hours per week, flexible working hours, including home office opportunities, 28 days of annual leave
Competitive Salary determined by experience and qualifications
Location: Berlin, Germany with about 10% international travel
